A little context

People. Patterns.
Possibilities.

I am Alex Garrido, a marketing leader, instructor, and builder based in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas.

My background in psychology and business analytics shapes how I approach problems: understand the person, examine the evidence, and find a practical way forward.

What I do

Lead, teach,
and keep building.

I serve as Assistant Vice President for Marketing Strategy & Innovation at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. My work brings together marketing strategy, digital communications, analytics, and the practical use of emerging technology.

I also teach MARK 4360: Social Media & E-Marketing in UTRGV’s Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship. The classroom is a place to practice decisions, question assumptions, and learn to explain the reasoning behind the work.

Psychology gives me a way to ask why people make decisions. Analytics helps me examine what happens when we put an idea into practice. Teaching brings those questions together: can someone explain a decision, apply it, and improve it?

Outside those roles, I create digital tools and host and curate Marketing Science Lab and Empathy Node. My public projects give me room to explore ideas across technology, human behavior, creativity, and personal meaning.

Beyond the job title

Useful to the world
we are building.

I am optimistic about what AI can make possible. I also believe that useful adoption requires judgment, verification, and a willingness to ask difficult questions about its effects.

That perspective carries into my teaching, my public tools, and the ideas I explore through podcasts. I want people to become more capable through the tools they use.

My community work includes serving as a board member and Marketing Chair for Futuro RGV.
